I just wanted to say thanks to Xander for running everything this week. I've been out because I'm preparing for a big job interview tomorrow.
Should be back next week.

I won't be able to be on for Warzone Night this week. I have a project due on Wednesday, so I'll be working on that most of the night. Torun, are you going to be on to take anyone that wants to Warzone?

If I don't have wife agro, I'll be on and trying to get people to play.
Also as a new incentive, we are posting up high scores from pvp in post 1.2 on the guild website. So come on down and get into the Guild Wall of Records!

Folks,
WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!
(Steps off of soapbox). We have had low participation in all PvP warzone nights and guild pvp event discussions as of late. Tonight I had zero people want to join in on warzones, so I feel we need to have more of a discussion.
1. Are you interested in PvP? 2. Why or why not? 3. Are there other times that are better for you (in other words, should we move to different nights than Tuesday & Wednesday?). 4. Is there something that keeps you from joining in on PvP? 5. What can we do to help you get more interested in PvP?
If you can all take the time to answer these questions, this can help us move the discussion on pvp forward.

Wow... Ok, let me be the first to answer this, then maybe everyone else reading will find cause to reply. watanabe2k wrote: 1. Are you interested in PvP? 2. Why or why not? 3. 1&2. I am not normally interested in PvP in MMOs. Except, I tried some in ToR beta. And I kinda liked it and had fun with it and didn't do too badly. I tried it some more after launch when Sikander hit level 10 or 11. Still did alright (I'm sitting on 153 commendations of some sort from it and I know I spent a few so I must have done reasonably well in the half-dozen or so matches I played), still enjoyed it. Still won't PvP in any other MMO, but I am still interested in ToR. 3&4&5. Well, time is the issue. When and if I get back into PvP (and it would be a completely casual interest) it would be at my normal times. Problem is, my normal times aren't anyone else's normal times usually. It's that whole West Coast / Swing Shift thing. Weekends I can do. Well, Saturdays really. And even those are starting to fill up. There is no easy solution for getting me more involved or more interested essentially because I am as interested and involved as I can be at this time. I know there are people in the guild who want to PvP and I am surprised to see no responses to your questions yet. Maybe we need to build some more interest with the show segments and see where that takes it.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm hoping to get a roundtable going so with a discussion of why pvp can be fun for new and experienced players, regardless of gear.

The main problem that I have with after PVP is that whenever I step onto the battlefield nine times out of ten it just seems like pointless death after death in which I seem not to be able contribute anything to the success of the group.
My experience as a heal spec sage is a lifespan of just over 10 seconds after engaging in combat it is rather discouraging. The feelings of helplessness as you get burned down usually without the ability to effectively respond [stun] makes it seems pointless to run back out and repeat the process again and again.
All the frustration for just another loss and 3 or 4 metals, does not encourage one to want to go out and run another battle. Just a rough estimate of my win to loss ratio is for every 8 matches played 1 is a victory and there is a 50/50 chance that that victory was by default. As a result I have been working on my weekly mission for a month just to get it 2/3 complete. No wins = no gear = can’t compete= no wins, it is a rather vicious cycle.
Last night was a good night, we were able to win 2 matches out of the 8 played, both wins were very hard fought. I even got over 5 metals once or twice. I still have a ways to go before I can get enough commendations for my first piece battle master gear however.
It just seems that either the Empire has the edge in PVP, the death to kill ratio is regularly slanted in their favor by sometimes as much a 4 to 1. I suspect it may have something to do with the replublic classes that I most often see in PVP but I’m not sure.
I think the main problem is systematic; the entire system needs work. Team balance is a huge issue, equipment is a huge issue.
I will keep playing PVP just because I’m doggedly determined. Just dont expect me to not complain the entire time.

I can understand the frustration... I will say I've seen a lot of the high end pvpers on our server get frustrated because the Imperials are a lot better organized (they are pretty much running only premades from 3pm cst to 11pm. This makes it difficult to win matches, even when we take out the republic premade because, the Republic group is not as well organized.
The good news:
Dailies have now changed so that games played (as well as wins) count towards your daily, so as long as you play 6 matches a day, you will be guaranteed to finish the daily and get ranked and warzone commendations. Thus, it is now changed so everyone is being better rewarded.
Also the recruit gear can really help in terms of getting expertise to even out the odds somewhat. The real issue is that the imps have their cc rotation and groups well thought out, so you will sometimes be stunned 2-3 times and not even be able to do anything. The trick is really to make sure you stick with the group. You'll see crazy people like me running around by myself, but is because I already have some War Hero gear mixed with oranges with bm mods and augments that help me burn people down quickly in pvp. That said, if it's a 2v1 situation, I will almost never leave alive, even if they other two are in recruit gear.
The real trick, staying in groups, and knowing that each person in the group should follow their roles.
I hope to be on tonight for this, but my car is in the shop, and things are a bit hectic...

I will not be able to make it tonight until probably 11 EST. If Torun cannot make it on and get a group going, Ill see if anyone is up for it when I get on.

Well, Ronin joined me for one game then I called it a night. Rather successful in taking down the Imp premades all evening.
The new pvp changes are wonderful, everyone should take advantage of them.
Hope to see more people tomorrow night. (Also hope to see my Matrix Cube so I can do even more damage).

Hiya Everybody!
1. Are you interested in PvP? Yes.
2. Why or why not? I like PVP because of the challenge.
3. Are there other times that are better for you (in other words, should we move to different nights than Tuesday & Wednesday?). My schedule is tight because of school & homework/study.
4. Is there something that keeps you from joining in on PvP? Time. I need to earn credits and that trumps PVP.
5. What can we do to help you get more interested in PvP? Help me do my dailies and I will PVP for you. I'm currently Valor level 48, and have purchased a set of recruit gear.
My apologies if I sound mercenary, but I am willing to prostitute myself in this capacity.

Stark, we should do some dailies together, I'm always up for the daily comms and credits (even a Jedi needs credits now and then, mostly to pay off the Jedi Trainer Mafia).
On another note, we had a great PvP Warzone night collaboration between the Order of 66 and Heroes of the Expanse. Er'on, Mordero, and Ddalton helped form a team with me that went up against the Imperial premade group containing some guys almost in full War Hero gear. Despite being under geared, and undermanned for a part of one of the matches, we managed to pull out both wins with some great team work.
Great work all, and thanks for coming out.

Starting this week I have a class on Tuesday nights that will prevent me from hosting this on Tuesdays. Therefore, I wanted to see if there is any interest in doing guild warzones a different night. Let me know what nights would work for anyone interested.

Also, I will try to run this week but I have a big trip coming up, so I doubt I will be on Wednesday night. I will also be gone for sure next week.
Just a quick heads up.
