Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Finder’s Archives.
Now, if my math is correct, then this particular blog post should go out on the 24th of December. So some, that is THE Christmas holiday, and to others it falls the day before. Regardless, a day such as this requires presents.
So today, I’m going to provide you with gifts. The awesome free stuff that you can find for RPGs everywhere. Ready? Here we go! (Please note I’ve DELIBERATELY not included pay-what-you-want titles here. They deserve a different type of recognition).
IRONSWORN
Ironsworn is, in essence, Dark Souls the RPG. It allows three different styles of play: Normal (GM and players), which they call Guided. Then there is Co-op, where everyone plays together, without a GM, and finally there is Solo. Just you and the game.
It’s a hefty piece of Kit, with 270 pages, but it is well worth your time, if you like a dark fantasy game.

One Page Dungeon Compendium 2020 Edition
In all honesty, I could have chosen any of them, since they have been doing these since 2010, and they’re all free. But this is the newest one after all.
It contains more than 100 stand alone dungeons that can be run in any system (though it works particularly well with OSR systems). If you can’t find something here, check the earlier ones. There is something for everyone from straight fantasy, to dark horror to gonzo. Go go. 😊

Cepheus Light: Upgraded
A free and relatively rules-light science fiction game, this is for those who want to sit down and explore the galaxy right away without having to worry too much about what’s going on. This included a system for generating NPCs on the spot (which is INCREDIBLY handy for any GM). And all it requires is D6s so those aficionados of the old WEG Star Wars system might find something here that resembles that. 😊

BattleTech Activity Book
And I’ll leave you with this final one. Which isn’t an RPG book, but an activity book. Ever wanted to color in a BattleTech mech? (And don’t tell me no!) Well, here is the answer from Catalyst Games. It also has a number of simple puzzles (and a code generator for making maps for kids), and some mazes. 😊
It’s good fun and a great way to introduce kids to the BattleTech universe of MECHS!

And with, there’s only one thing left to say. Happy Holidays everyone!
