The Xenobiologist recently traveled to the cold desert Geonosian moon Bahryn to study the bonzami, a gigantic predator. The fur-covered bonzami are taller than bantha, with dangerous axe-beaks and claws. Its fur coat, preferred cold environment, and reptilian features suggest some distant kinship with the fungivorous tauntaun, a furbearing, cold-adapted reptile. Or, it could be parallel evolution.
Unlike tauntauns, bonzami are carnivorous, tough, and deadly. Not even blaster rifles or energy weapons of similar power do much damage. Bonzami may hunt in packs or solo. They can be found both on the surface and in large natural caverns.

Design & Play Notes: The bonzami appeared in the Star Wars Rebels episode “The Honorable Ones,” which I just re-watched. I was intrigued by a creature that was a match, or more, for two of the best non-Jedi combatants on the show. (Granted, neither was at their best and one had, in game terms, at least an Average critical injury.) So, as usual, I couldn’t resist making stats.
Even though bonzami may hunt in packs, I don’t recommend putting more than one in an encounter for a typical party, given their toughness. Even so, like Zeb and Kallus, PCs may have to settle for avoidance or retreat, rather than killing or driving it off. I opted for somewhat less Soak and Wound Threshold than the Fambaa (Stay on Target).
Fun fact: Bonzami is an anagram of Zamboni, a brand of machine used to keep ice rinks smooth.
