This coming Friday, December 9, 2022, is the 57th anniversary of the debut of the classic holiday cartoon A Charlie Brown Christmas. This December also marks the 55th anniversary of the holiday song “Snoopy’s Christmas.” The song places Snoopy and his nemesis, the German ace Red Baron, at the historical World War I (WWI) Western Front Christmas Truce of 1914. While none of Snoopy’s imaginary WWI exploits are featured in A Charlie Brown Christmas, they did appear in other Peanuts TV specials, notably It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. As a bonus, I included stats for Snoopy’s bird pal Woodstock.
