Mungo Baobab is a scion of the notable Baobab merchant and trading family, of the planet Manda. During his early adulthood, his family didn’t approve of his interest in travel and chasing down legendary artifacts, rather than tending to the Serious Business of the family business. So they forced him to take on responsibilities, such as setting up a new trading post. While his assignments didn’t always go as well as his elders wished, Mungo did learn and eventually took over the family business.
In addition to ownership of the Baobab Merchant Fleet, he is patron of the Baobab Archives. One of the advantages of researching at this private library (in addition to its excellent facilities and extensive reference materials, including ancient and obscure texts) is that Mungo and his staff will not report your visits and search queries to the Imperials, which is a real risk for users of many major libraries and archives in this Era.

Design & Play Notes: I try to have something lighthearted this time of year, so I went back to the (in)famous ’80s Star Wars cartoons. Be mindful, however, Mungo’s not exactly a fool. He’s clever and resourceful enough to get out of some pretty tight spots, not to mention head a major business, so he won’t be out of place in a more serious campaign. Go ahead and introduce Mungo Baobab to your players. Here’s a few ideas.
Mungo might hire an Edge of the Empire crew to haul goods on short notice or even rescue one of his freighters. Given his history with the Empire, he makes a good supporter of the Alliance in Dawn of Rebellion and Age of Rebellion games. A Force & Destiny party might visit the Baobab Archives to do research, or even agree to track down some artifact that’s taken Mungo’s fancy (and give them cover while they seek out Force knowledge or artifacts for their own edification).
This version of Mungo is meant to represent him as the Merchant fleet owner, so abilities reflect that. If you want players to encounter him during his adventuring heyday, adjust the skills and other abilities to emphasize piloting, shooting, and similar activities.
