Abilities
Corroding Antennae: When any metal weapon hits the rust monster, the GM may spend 2 Threat to damage it. A single non-magical ferrous metal Encumbrance 1 object within Engaged range becomes damaged with a successful Ranged attack. If the item isn’t held/worn it may be destroyed at GM’s option.
Detect Iron: With a successful Average Perception check
Dark Vision: When making skill checks, a rust monster removes up to 2 Setback imposed due to darkness.
Equipment: Bite (Brawl, Damage +3, Critical 3)
Design Notes: Like my owlbear, this is a classic D&D creature recreated for fantasy genre Genesys games. My interest in the monster was piqued by Rusty and Company, a fun little webcomic about an unlikely adventuring party (rust monster, mimic, and gelatinous cube) that is aided and abetted by a slightly more traditional supporting cast. Unlike the comic, this is a serious writeup.
