General Thoughts/FAQ Update
- General across the board drop in points. Lots of generics got cheaper.
- Tractor Beam Changes: After the opponents moves you via tractor tokens, you can take a stress to rotate your ship 90 degrees. Huge tractor nerf.
- Gas Cloud: Now you roll a dice and on a Focus or Hit result you gain a Strain token. Makes gas clouds more of a deal, especially for the evasive ships that tended to take them.
- Poor Oddball. They added “Finally” to his card text on the Y-Wing.
- Goji doesn’t trigger off mines anymore. Now he requires fuses to do anything.
- Composure- After you gain the focus you can’t do any other actions this round. That’s a nerve for Snap, previously the only place you’d ever use it. But Vonreg’s TIE’s might have been able to exploit it for Focus/Evade. But they can naturally get Focus/Lock in one turn.
- Static Discharge Veins got cheaper. But now they damage you, in addition to stressing you, when you pass off your tokens.
- Q: If a ship is destroyed and an effect such as R1-J5 []
repairs one or more of its damage cards before it is
removed, is the ship still destroyed (and thus removed)?
A: Yes. After a ship becomes “destroyed” for any reason, it remains
destroyed no matter what effects are resolved before it is removed.
Effects can change the timing at which a ship is removed, but cannot undo
the state of being destroyed.- Does this break Tel Trevura?
Generic Upgrades
- R2 Astromech shot up a whole bunch.
- Cannons got more expensive. This feels like an overkill response to B-Wings. But we’ll see. They may still be great with their new title.
- The stream indicated that Force Powers were going down in price but they don’t appear to have changed.
- The only Gunners allowed in Hyperspace are Agile Gunner and Veteran Tail Gunner.
- Faction unique gunners are almost all out in Hyperspace.
- This makes the Gunner slot an almost meaningless slot.
- Agile Gunner is still too pricey for happening during the End Phase.
- Stream also talked about Talents all coming down but only a few did
- Daredevil, which is pretty cool.
- Expert Handling
- Saturation Salvo
Republic
-
- Cheap Swarms got hit
- No V-19’s in hyperspace. Not sad, never fly them but unexpected.
- No 104th Battalion.
- No more Sinker swarms at all really as Sinker’s out of hyperspace.
- Bravo Flight dropped to 33 though so you can now take 6 N-1’s.
- Ahsoka came down, yay! She’s fun but always felt like not enough for the price at I3.
- No Anakin, Mace or ….Saesee in the Jedi Interceptor. The first one makes sense. The second, sad but okay. But Saesee, that’s just odd.
- N-1’s are in Hyperspace but no Juke for them.
- Lots of odd choices on the hyperspace upgrade list
- Delta 7B is also completely out of hyperspace which really changes the Jedi. I’m a little annoyed but also rather like this. I always default to using it so now I’ll have a reason to try CLT.
- All of the Republics unique upgrades are gone
- Gunners are all gone (Ahsoka, Clone Commander Gunner, 7th Fleet Gunner).
- Astromechs are all gone except R4-P17.
- Synchronized Console got cheaper but is also out of hyperspace.
- Cheap Swarms got hit
Rebellion
- Hyperspace
- 5 X-Wing!
- All the underutilized pilots came down. And many dropped from hyperspace so they won’t have an impact there.
- Having one of the more diverse set of pilots makes them the easiest to have pilots rotate in and out.
- All of the classic ships are in Hyperspace (except U-Wings, which I would argue now qualify since they’re a major trilogy era movie ship).
- B-Wings didn’t get any cheaper (except Blade Squadron) and their S-foils costs 2. Plus cannons all went up. But I suppose that’s wise as double tap is powerful. Even as is can do four Blades with Ion Cannon and servos.
- Hyperspace Upgrades
- I love how Maul is legal but you can’t take any of the Ezra’s.
- Same as Republic, all the unique gunners are out (and Ezra is still to expensive).
- Leia continues to inch back up to where she was. From 8 to 2 to 6 to 7.
- Extended
- Cheaper HWK’s will be fun.
- A-Wings dropped to 29. One more and you can fly 7. Come on next update.
- Cheap Z’s came down like TIE’s.
- Dash, and all YT-2400, are getting more affordable.
- Four E-Wings could be a thing to try.
- Six Dorsal turret Y-Wings could be annoying.
Resistance
- Very limited Hyperspace field, especially at first. Transport/Pod, T-70’s, A-wings. Lost the Falcon and Starfortress. Fireball will be added shortly.
- Despite the already limited field, the few ships available lost some pilots. L’ulo, Ello and Finn.
- Just like Rise of Skywalker, Rose has been wiped from Hyperspace.
- Fireball pilots got points.
- 33 points for Yaeger is a real low cost I5.
- Good range of upgrades: Astromech, Illicit, Missile, Double Mods
- Starfortress and Trajectory both went down. Will be interesting in Extended to see if they make an appearance.
- Several good options for four T-70’s now
- Red Squadron with Pattern and Heroic.
- Black Squadron Ace with R4 and Heroic
- Blue Squadron Recruit with Pattern, Heroic and R4.
- Pattern Analyzer is out of Hyperspace sadly.
Separatist
- No Bellyrub in Hyperspace. But Captain Sear shot up a whole bunch.
- But more importantly, no Energy Shell Charges.
- Ensnare took a big hit going up to 12 for most ships. It now costs a Vulture droid on an I5 or I6.
- Also, its out of Hyperspace so that makes Nantex…interesting…for Hyperspace.
- Gorgol now has a Modification slot, the only Nantex with one. That could be interesting.
- Most of the Hyenas came down. Without Belbullab’s and Energy Shells to fill in with Vultures we’ll see what kind of role they start to play.
Empire
- Hyperspace
- TIE Advanced X1 continues to slip downward.
- Tempest Squadron is cheap enough now you can fly five with Passive Sensors.
- A weird collection of TIE’s for hyperspace. Instead of the classic trilogy ships minus the Rogue one ships like the Rebels have in Hyperspace, you have the Rogue One collection. Plus a Decimator.
- One of the only factions to keep their faction unique Gunners in hyperspace.
- Fifth Brother got more expensive though.
- Also one of the few places Titles didn’t get cheaper.
- TIE Advanced X1 continues to slip downward.
- Extended
- 6 Interceptors/6 Strikers is now a thing. Those are a lot of fun to fly.
- Aggressors also are slowly coming down. Six with turrets or cheap missile.
- Defenders down to 67, just over that can take three line. But only just.
- Force Multipliers was their main place to nerf and the Empire feels it the most with Howlrunner and Jonus getting quite pricey.
First Order
- TIE/ba Interceptor gets points.
- Vonreg is a decent 57 for an I6.
- Holo, which could be a real shenanigans player is reasonable at 54.
- TIE/FO can now fly a full eight ship swarm.
- No Quickdraw for Hyperspace.
- Same to the shuttle.
- All of the faction crew are not in hyperspace. Which is okay for now as they Upsilon was their only ride.
- Proud/False Tradition is to expensive at 2 points. The benefit it gives you is to get actions when stressed. But as soon as you do that your target makes you flip it and it’s all downside after that. It’s a fun idea but not worth the cost to equip.
- Four I6’s in a single list is one point to expensive (Midnight 42, Rush 57, Vonreg 57, Quickdraw 45= 201)
Scum
- Hyperspace
- Falcon is out of Hyperspace. Same with the Resistance one. Wonder if they’ll rotate the Falcon through the factions so there’s only one legal at any one time.
- A tight field for Hyperspace, especially considering the Jumpmaster is one of the few options.
- It carries a cannon slot now and did come down in points so maybe it will be good again?
- Nom Lumb, the new pilot, is cheaper than the generic. That’s kind of cool.
- M3-A is now cheap enough you can field a full 8 ship swarm.
- Jamming Beam is not Hyperspace but a full 8 of those with it might be scary. Use Jamming Beam’s 3 dice attack to clear tokens and then give the rest have an easier time.
- Four Fearless Fang fighters could be a thing now. Probably not a good thing but it’s worth trying once.
- Kath Scarlett and six M3-A worth trying maybe?
- Extended
- Quite a lot of the titles came down in points. This is nice as you want to use them if you fly that ship.
- Quad Jumpers went down and Tractor got balanced. Seems fair.
- Fly any three IG’s together. I need to get me a third…
- Torkil went up and the other HWK’s, except Palob, went down.
- Guri and three Starviper friends is a thing! I need to go get another Scum conversion kit now.
